Public Attendance

Council meetings are open to the public – however, it should be noted that many items discussed by the Personnel Committee will often be of a confidential nature, with press and public excluded from restricted items in accordance with the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 – Section 1. Members of the public are still more than welcome to attend as normal for all non-restricted items. We therefore recommend carefully checking the agenda regarding restricted and non-restricted items before deciding whether or not to attend.

If you plan to attend and have any special requirements (such as wheelchair access) which may require adjustments to be made, please contact the Council prior to the meeting.

Any electors wishing to address the council during a meeting regarding items on the agenda must submit representations to the Council no later than 48 hours prior to the meeting to advise both of their wish to speak and the full content, providing a transcript if available. Other issues could be raised if written notice of the question/matter is submitted to the Proper Officer ten working days prior to the meeting and the matter is considered appropriate for the agenda.

A request to speak does not confer an automatic right to do so. Permission to speak at the meeting is at the discretion of the Chairperson and subject to Standing Orders.

Please note that the council may not be able to answer questions at a meeting if the matter relates to a topic that the council has not considered or resolved. If the matter is considered outside the remit of Morecambe Town Council, residents will be referred to Lancaster City Council or the appropriate body.

Please note dates and times of meetings may be subject to change.
