Watch kites great and small fly high above Morecambe Bay at Morecambe Kite Festival on Sunday 20th July, 11am-4pm.
Join us on Morecambe South Beach and at the Festival hub at the bottom of the Stone Jetty for:
- Incredible professional kite-flying
- Tasty food from Morecambe Bay Chowder and Crust and Co, plus refreshments
- Good music provided by Beyond Radio and Galloways Choir for the Blind
- Creative workshops including kite-making and sand-art
- Fun and games in the tuff-play area
- Face-painting
- Professional sand art
- Guided yoga session
- Guide dog demonstrations
and more!
This event is free to attend and designed with inclusivity in mind.

Getting Here
Arriving by Bus
There’s no better way to get to the festival other than by bus and it’ll only cost you no more than £1 each way. (Adult Single Fare on Sundays). The following services stop at or very close to Central Drive (Festival Market / Promenade area):

Note on services 6B/6C: These were introduced as part of a service reorganisation. Routes 6B (anti-clockwise) and 6C (clockwise) circle through Central Drive, Marine Road East, and Morecambe Bus Station.
Arriving by Bike
Bike racks are available outside the Festival Market and near the Midland Hotel. Morecambe Railway Station also has covered bike storage. Bikes are permitted at the event, but we ask that you dismount. E-bikes are not currently permitted along the Promenade.
Arriving by Train
Trains operate from Lancaster Station to Morecambe, via Bare. Journey time is typically 15 minutes.
Trains will depart from Lancaster on Sunday 20 July at 10:37hrs, 11:00hrs, 11:27hrs, 12:11hrs, 12:41hrs, 13:59hrs, 14:12hrs, 14:50hrs, 15:23hrs.
Trains will depart Morecambe Station at 11:38hrs, 12:24hrs, 13:10hrs, 13:56hrs, 14:42hrs, 15:28hrs, 16:14hrs.

Arriving by Car
If you are arriving by car, we would encourage you to park in one of the following car parks:
- Billy Hill Car Park – LA4 5DL – 40 spaces + 3 disabled bays + electric vehicle (EV) charging
- Library Car Park – LA4 5DH – 118 spaces + 10 disabled bays + EV charging
- Festival Market Car Park – LA4 4DW – 359 spaces + 20 disabled bays + EV charging
- Central Drive Car Park – LA4 4DW – 4o spaces + 4 disabled bays
- Bay Arena Car Park – LA4 4DB – 36 spaces + 7 disabled bays*
- Morecambe Bus Station – LA4 5DL – 22 spaces + 4 disabled bays
- Telephone Exchange – LA4 5JU – 163 spaces + 3 disabled bays
- Railway Station – LA4 4DW – 22 spaces + 3 disabled bays
- Goods Yard – LA4 4DB – 66 spaces + 3 disabled bays
We would encourage you to carpool when possible.
*Closest location for blue badge users. Reduced capacity due to event supplier parking.
The car parks are operated by Lancaster City Council at the following parking rates:
