Anti Social Behaviour
The Town Council has committed funds of £14,000 in 2017/18 to help tackle Anti Social behaviour (ASB) within Morecambe. This has become an increasing problem and concern for many residents. This funding will be used in partnership with Lancaster City Council and Lancashire Constabulary. The City Council are establishing a team of officers to work in a coordinated manner to tackle the issues.
ASB may be defined as unreasonable behaviour, that is continuous or persistent, and has a detrimental effect on those in the area. The behaviour must cause alarm, harassment or distress in non-residential environment e.g. public areas, or nuisance and annoyance in residential situations. An example of a type of issue often complained about, which would not be classified as ASB under the above definition would be a one off party in a house. However, regular parties in the same house which cause disturbance to the local neighbourhood could be classified as ASB and dealt with by the Team.
