Morecambe Town Council currently supports the provision of an additional 6 PCSO’s within Morecambe to funding 50% of the costs for the officers.
The Town Council works closely with Lancashire Constabulary to ensure the additional PCSO’s provide a valued service to residents.
A Police Liaison Group consisting of 7 Town Councillors meets quarterly to discuss performance and issues with senior Police Officers.
Police Officer report to each Town Council meeting and the minutes of the Liaison Group are also considered by all members of the Council at Town Council Meetings.
Working with the Police a series of key themes are agreed for each quarter to tackle issues that have been brought to the attention of the Council. These are in addition to the normal Police responsibilities and daily actions to keep our Communities Safer.
The current agreed themes are:
- Dog Fouling/Litter
- Anti Social Behaviour
- Personal Theft
- Acquisitive Crime.

Community Action Fund
The Commissioner has introduced a Community Action Fund.
The Community Action Fund totals £50,000 and is designed to provide small grants to assist groups in tackling local concerns and helping to deliver my priorities in their area. It is be open to all local groups and organisations with a constitution to apply and the Commissioner will consider all applications within four weeks of them being received.
